There’s a new standard in AI-powered email security, and it’s Sublime
The 360 billion emails that cross the internet each day are a risky vector for cyber attacks, now costing businesses upward of $3 billion annually. Unchallenged, this problem will only get worse.
AI has given hackers the means to execute targeted phishing attacks on an unprecedented scale, while email security remains a conventional, slow, one-size-fits-all black box. Even the most advanced API-based email security vendors still leave their customers in the dark, with no ability to adapt their environment to the changing threat landscape without filing a ticket.
This is an industry ripe for disruption. We need software to keep up with attacker adaptation programmatically — that is, software running with minimal human input required, versus the other way around.
That’s why we’re leading Sublime Security’s $60 million Series B — to supercharge the email security revolution we’ve all been waiting for.
A new programmatic method to email security in the AI era
Sublime is solving these problems for its rapidly growing customer base with an approach that takes into account newly available technology: countering attackers with an adaptive AI detection engine. Sublime treats each customer as a unique organization with individual email security needs. By adapting the Sublime model to meet the discrete security needs of different segments of its workforce — sales, IT, C-suite, and so on — Sublime’s email security platform thwarts email threats more precisely and accurately.
An expert founder who knows the enemy
Sublime’s success has a lot to do with its founders, Josh Kamdjou and Ian Thiel. With a background in offensive security, including a decade of deep work for the U.S. Department of Defense, Josh understands how attackers operate - and how relatively easy hacking a network by phishing can be.
This "know your enemy" posture has been instrumental in developing Sublime's innovative defenses. Josh’s mission in building Sublime was to create a solution that he himself wouldn’t be able to subvert.
Ian brings operational strength to Josh’s security expertise, leveraging his product and GTM leadership roles at Optimizely and Alto Pharmacy to help commercialize and operationalize Sublime.
We’re impressed with their relentless drive to disrupt the email security status quo and their focus on solving the problem and not just pushing a solution.
Fast growth, glowing customer reviews and huge addressable market
Sublime’s growth has been rapid and organic, correlated to the unconstrained market – one denominated in the total number of business email addresses worldwide. Sublime serves customers like Spotify, Snyk, Elastic, Brex and Ramp, and has quadrupled its customers since the beginning of this year.
We believe this momentum is about to increase even further with the addition of former Wiz CRO Colin Jones as President. Colin brings a wealth of experience and a customer obsession. Customers rave about Sublime’s efficacy, ease of use and responsiveness. We look forward to more happy customers via Colin.
The combination of growth, expertise, customer love and market opportunity? Sublime.
